William "Bill" Lohmeyer

William H. Lohmeyer, 80, died March 13, 2022 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington, KS. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 17, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Linn. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 18, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Greenleaf. Burial will be in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. Bill was born to Marvin and Mabel (Behrens) Lohmeyer on November 26, 1941 at the family farm in rural Greenleaf. He was baptized December 7, 1941 by Rev. Homer H. Kurth and confirmed April 3, 1955 by Rev. Clifford G. Larson at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. In 1959, Bill graduated from Greenleaf High School. On November 25, 1994, Bill was united in marriage to Maryann Zickler. Bill was a lifelong farmer, farming the family farm along with his brother Roger. He would do the planting, haying and tending the cattle. Maryann would swath and Bill would bale. Bill did some construction work and helped with the elevators in Greenleaf. Bill was very active in the church, serving for years as an elder and was a treasurer. Farming and the church were his life. He even bowled on the church bowling team. One of his wishes was to travel to all fifty states in the United States. After he and Maryann married, they started traveling. Germany and Alaska were his favorites. He also enjoyed visiting relatives. Bill was especially fond of his nieces and nephews and ten great nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother, Marvin Dale Lohmeyer. Survivors include his wife, Maryann; brother, Roger (Tammy) Lohmeyer, Greenleaf and nieces and nephews. A memorial fund is established to KLAH Home Health or Lutheran Hour. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
