Rusty Thorman, 64, Wakefield, passed away August 19, 2020 at the Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, with his wife, Jody by his side. A memorial service was held Sunday, September 6th at 10:00 a.m. by the pagoda in the Wakefield City Park, Wakefield KS. Diane Rudd was Eulogist and the song "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" was played. Rusty was born Russell Lynn on October 1, 1955, to Richard and Betty (Werner) Thorman in Washington. In 1973, he graduated from Gothenburg High School, Gothenburg, NE. At the time of his death, he was co-managing the Clay County Park in Wakefield with his wife. His interests included fishing, bird and squirrel watching, sitting by a campfire and country cruising. In his younger days, he enjoyed the life of a cowboy. Rusty is continuing his legacy through the Midwest Transplant Network. Rusty is survived by his wife of thirty years, Jody (Cheetsos) Thorman; children, Justin and wife Megan, Aly and husband Steele Davidson and Jill and husband Troy Franzen; brother, Randy (Joann) Thorman; three grandchildren, Austin, Zane and Evelyn; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
