Pauline Doris Hatesohl Lindhorst, 91, of Linn, Kansas died Friday, September 27, 2024 at the Clay County Medical Center.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 4-8, with family receiving visitors from 5-7 at Ward Funeral Home in Linn, KS. 

Funeral will be Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Greenleaf, KS, with graveside service to follow. Rev. Randall Jahnke will officiate. Jared Hatesohl is the organist and the congregations hymns are “Lift High the Cross,” “The Lord’s My Shepherd, I’ll Not Want,” “A Mighty Fortress is Our God” and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives.”

Pallbearers are John Hatesohl, Kent Hatesohl, Michael Hatesohl, Andrew Hatesohl, Thomas Hatesohl, Kent Knabe and Keith Knabe.

Pauline was born December 28, 1932 on a farm west of Diller, NE to John and Minnie (Wenz) Weers. She was baptized and confirmed at St Paul’s Lutheran Church at Diller. She attended country school and graduated co-salutatorian from Diller High School class of 1949. After graduation she taught for 3 ½ years in Gage County Nebraska. She then attended Fairbury College graduating in 1953. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Kansas State University in 1957 and a master’s degree in education from Emporia State University in 1973. She taught at Emmons School in Washington, KS in 1953 for 4 years. She married Melvin Hatesohl of Linn on May 29, 1955 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Diller, NE. In 1960 they moved to their new home in Linn, Kansas where they raised their 4 sons. Pauline retired in 1993 after teaching 35 years. The last 27 years were spent in Palmer and Linn, KS. They celebrated 46 years of marriage before he passed away on October 16, 2001.

On February 13, 2011, she married Arlo Lindhorst at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Greenleaf, KS where Pauline was a long-time member and organist for 50 years. She also sang in the choir and belonged to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML). She moved to Marysville KS in 2011 where she joined Mt Calvary Lutheran Church and the LWML circle. After Arlo’s death in 2019, she moved to Clay Center and joined Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Greenleaf.

Pauline was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Being with family was her greatest joy. She loved playing the piano, quilting, gardening and visiting cousins and friends. She traveled to all 50 states, to Europe, and the Holy Land. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Minnie Weers; her husbands, Melvin Hatesohl and Arlo Lindhorst; her sister, Della Knabe, 3 brothers-in-law, and 3 sisters-in-law. 

Survivors include her four sons: Dr. Stanley (Ann) Hatesohl, Hot Springs Village, AR; Steven (Mary) Hatesohl, Shawnee, KS; Dr. Mark (Pamela) Hatesohl and David (Julie) Hatesohl both of Manhattan, KS; her brother-in-law, Delmar Hatesohl, Linn, KS; step-children: Alan (Lana) Lindhorst, Wamego, KS; Shelley (Mark) Pollman, Wymore, NE; Craig (Jan) Lindhorst, Marysville, KS and Lynette (Ric) Fredrickson of Concordia, KS; 9 grandchildren: Dr. Michael Hatesohl, Reverend Andrew Hatesohl (Alexa), Dr. Tom Hatesohl (Emily), Katherine Kjergaard (Josh), Stephanie Hatesohl, Jessica Hatesohl, Georgia Hatesohl, Mason Thornton, and Kayla Thornton; 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

 Memorials can be made to the Melvin and Pauline Hatesohl Scholarship Fund and sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington, KS.
