Nancy Marie Tice, 71, Morrowville, died Friday, January 29, 2021 at the Washington County Hospital, Washington. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 11, from Noon to 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 12, at the Washington United Methodist Church. The pallbearers will be Bob Elder, Jeremy Elder, Ken Elder, Nathaniel Tice, Shaun Pearson and Jesse Martin. Burial will be in the Morrowville Cemetery. Nancy was born July 7, 1949 in Concordia, KS, to Floyd Vernon and Helen Elizabeth (Benne) Elder. The family lived in rural Morrowville, KS. After graduating from Morrowville Rural High School in 1967, Nancy attended Cloud County Community College, in Concordia, then transferred to Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. On July 31, 1971, she married Ben Tice at the United Methodist Church in Morrowville, KS. The couple lived in Mahaska for the first year of their marriage and Nancy taught at the elementary school in Mahaska, then they returned to Morrowville in 1972 where they started their family. Nancy stayed at home for several years with her young children then began working at Swingster’s in Fairbury where she worked for 17 years. After they relocated and closed operations, she was a substitute teacher for a couple years, then began working at Linn Nursing Home. This April she would have been there for 20 years. Nancy loved to sew and cook (especially baking with her grandchildren). While her children were involved in 4-H, she served as a club leader and project leader. She was a member of the United Methodist Church where she was a very prominent member of the United Methodist Women’s (UMW) Group. Nancy was also an avid Red Cross blood donor. She was preceded in death by her husband; father; brother, Bobby Elder; sister, Jolene (Elder) Thompson; and grandson, Carter Benjamin Lucas. Her mother, Helen passed away on February 7, 2021. Survivors include one daughter, Darcy (Jeff) Lucas, Gladstone, Mo.; three sons, Tracy (Becky) Tice, Morrowville, Tim (Denise) Tice, Morrowville, and Paul Tice, Pittsburgh, PA; siblings, Leslie (Judy) Elder and Sandra (Eddie) Martin; brother-in-law, Terry Thompson; three grandchildren, Nathaniel Tice, Madelyn Lucas and Olivia Lucas; and many nieces and nephews.
