Marvin Dewey, 78, Hollenberg, died Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Beatrice, NE. Visitation was from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, January 23, at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 23, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Washington. Father Joseph Kieffer officiated. Sheila Ouellette was organist and the hymns were “Here I Am Lord,” “Amazing Grace,” “On Eagles Wings” and “How Great Thou Art.” Pallbearers were Todd Stanton, Rick Stanton, Mike Dewey, Scott Dewey, David Gillespie and Dennis Tegethoff. Honorary pallbearers were Sutton Harms, Tanner Dewey, Jacob Dewey and Taiten Harms Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Marvin was born on May 12, 1941 in Jefferson County, Kansas to Lyle and Oma (Sand) Dewey. In 1959, he graduated from Morrowville High School. He served with the U.S. Army and returned after his discharge and was a farmer and rancher, near Hollenberg. On September 19, 1964, Marvin was united in marriage to Judith Tegethoff at St. Augustine Catholic Church. This union was blessed with two children, Marc and Sami. Marvin was an avid golfer and belonged to the Cedar Hills Golf Course. He was a K-State fan and loved his time spent visiting with friends and his family. He loved attending his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Judy in 2013; sister, Nila Stanton; and brother, Delbert Dewey. Survivors include his children, Marc (Jodi) Dewey, Beatrice, NE, Sami (Jerry) Harms, Beatrice, NE; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Kim) Tegethoff, Bruce Stanton; three grandchildren, Tanner Dewey, Jacob Dewey, Taiten Harms and one great granddaughter, Sutton Harms. A memorial fund is established to the family’s choice. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
