Marilyn Sack, 85, Belleville, formerly of Washington, died Monday, March 11, 2019 at Belleville Healthcare Center, Belleville, Kan. A funeral service was 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 18, 2019 at the Washington Christian Church in Washington, Kan. Officiants were be Rev. Jim Stark, Rev. Sherman Sack, Rev. Stanley Sack and Darel Boston. Musicians were Gay Lynn Manning, Ruth Sack, Mavis Sack, John Durst and Ed Durst. Music was "Surely the Presence of the Lord is in This Place," "He Touched Me," "The Lord's Prayer" and "His Eye is on the Sparrow." Visitation was from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17 at Ward Funeral Home, Washington. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Pallbearers were Jeff Sack, Kelvin Blecha, Arnie Culver, Chad Seaman, Clark Seaman and Alfred Jackson. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Durst, Sherman Sack, Tom Noone, Stanley Sack, Steve Goldsberry and Don Woodcock. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Marilyn Louise Sack was born on September 7, 1933 at Longmont, Colorado, to Arnold and Genevieve (Chandler) Lay. She graduated from Longmont High School in Longmont, Colorado in 1952 and attended Manhattan Christian College in Manhattan, Kansas. Marilyn was united in marriage to her life-long friend from Longmont, Wendell Sack on August 24, 1952 at Longmont, CO. She and Wendell had a wonderful marriage of more than 60 years. Marilyn enjoyed being a devoted preacher’s wife, a mother and a grandmother. She and Wendell served at various churches in Kansas, Colorado and Oklahoma. Marilyn was pianist at many of the churches where they served. She also held jobs outside the home as a school secretary, church secretary and other secretarial positions. Marilyn’s hobbies included cross stitch, Scherenschnitte, and doing crossword puzzles. Her survivors include daughters, Marcia (Kelvin) Blecha, Chester, NE; Melinda (Arnie) Culver, Belleville, KS; and her son, Jeffrey Sack, Belleville, KS. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Chad Seaman, Candace Seaman, and Clark Seaman; and three step-grandchildren, Kara (Tim) Wenske, Kashus & Klarissa; Kevin (Tasha) Blecha & Gus; and Kristin (Jared) Emmitt. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell; her parents, Arnold and Genevieve; and a brother, Darrell Lay.
