Marian L. Gross

Marian L. Gross, 87, Linn, died Sunday, October 24, 2021 at the Linn Community Nursing Home. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m., Thursday, October 28 at Ward Funeral Home, Washington. A Vigil service will follow at 7 p.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 29 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kieffer officiating. Burial will be in Washington City Cemetery. Marian was born on July 15, 1934 in San Francisco, CA to Pierre and Mary (Sullivan) Sabastia. She attended Catholic School in the city until 8th grade, when her family moved to Mountain View California. In October of 1951 she met Raymond Babcock at a Halloween party. They married April 11, 1952 and were blessed with two children, Phyllis and Raymond Jr. (Buck). Marian was an Army wife for twenty-five years. They later divorced. On November 18, 1984, she married Verlin Gross. Marian was loved dearly by the staff at the Linn Community Nursing Home, where she resided for the last ten years of her life. Survivors include her children, Phyllis (Richard) Applegarth, Raymond (Buck) Babcock Jr; stepchildren, Delvin (Kathy) Gross, Delmar (Cherrie) Gross and Sondra Morgan; many grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Verlin; and brother, Pierre Sabastia. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later.
