Marcene E. Hatesohl, 88, Linn, died Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Bryan West in Lincoln, NE. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2019 at Ward Funeral Home in Linn. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, December 14, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, near Greenleaf. Rev. Matthew Durance will officiate. Arlene Miller is the organist and the congregation will sing "How Great Thou Art," "I'm But a Stranger Here" and "Rock of Ages." Pallbearers are Eric Hatesohl, Kent Hatesohl, Steven Hatesohl, Mark Hatesohl, David Hatesohl and Jeremiah Lietke. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Marcene was born September 5, 1931 to William and Louise (Suden) Fajen at Clay Center, Kansas. She attended Spring Creek School, west of Palmer, St. John’s Lutheran School, Palmer and graduated in 1950 from Linn High School. On June 7, 1953, she was united in marriage to Willard Hatesohl at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Palmer. Marcene worked for C & W Electric in Clay Center, then nearly thirty years as a librarian aide at the Linn High School. She enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and sewing. She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was known for her green thumb, the high school senior window displays, orange bowknot rolls and homemade pies. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Willard in 2008; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hatesohl; brothers-in-law, Lowell Hatesohl, Melvin Hatesohl and John Dranka. Survivors include children, John (Jane York) Hatesohl, Paulette (Carl Peiffer) Hatesohl, both of Linn; sister, Janice Dranka, Crystal Lake, IL; grandchildren, Nikki (Rocky) Seybert and Eric Hatesohl; step grandchildren, Nick (Emma) Hintz, Hunter York, Daniel York, Krista (Tom) Mapes and Jason (Brittany) Peiffer and five step great grandchildren. A memorial fund is established to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.
