Lula Pauline Stuenkel, 97, died Thursday, July 13, 2023 at the Linn Community Nursing Home in Linn.
A funeral service was held 10 a.m., Monday, July 17, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Palmer, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Pastor Joshua Hayes officiated.
Organist was Sheila Stuenkel and the congregation sang “In the Hour of Trial,” “Oh, Holy Spirit, Give Us Grace” and “I’m But a Stranger Here.”
Pallbearers were Gene Braun, John Helms, Duane Dahm, Brad Fowles, Wayne Helms and Roger Helms.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Lula was born on September 9, 1925 in rural Linn, Kansas to Harry and Pauline (Blanken) Stuenkel. She was a farmer and a homemaker and enjoyed working the farm, gardening, tending to her flowers and researching her German family ancestry. Lula was a faithful Christian up to her death. She was very devoted to supporting the missions of the Lutheran Church at home and abroad. Lula enjoyed reading and studying God’s word.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Marvin Stuenkel; and sisters, Cecelia Dahm, Sylvia Stuenkel, Ruth Mueller, Lavera Helms and Velma Braun.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is established to The Lutheran Heritage Foundation.
