Lorene Anna Peters, 88, Linn, died July 11, 2020 at Clay County Medical Center in Clay Center, KS. Visitation was held from 1 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 22, at Ward Funeral Home in Linn. A private funeral service was at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 23 at St. John Lutheran Church near Palmer. Rev. Joshua Hayes officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Lorene was born December 22, 1931 to George and Ida (Meyer) Ohlde at Linn. She was baptized by Rev. JGB Keller at St. John Lutheran Church, on December 27, 1931. Lorene attended grade school at St. John Elementary and was confirmed by the Rev. George Lehenbauer on March 25, 1945. She attended Linn Rural High School, graduating in 1949. After graduation she worked in the egg department of the Linn Creamery. On April 19, 1953, Lorene was united in marriage to Elmer Peters and they were blessed with three children, Bryce, Ned and Jan. She and Elmer purchased the service station in Palmer in 1956. They operated Peters Farm Supply until 1991. In 1960, they moved back to the farm where Lorene was born and raised and she lived there until this May, when she moved to Palmer. Lorene worked for the State of Kansas in the SRS Department, from 1984 until her first retirement in 1996. Shortly after, she began working for the Centennial Homestead Nursing Home in Washington, retiring in 2013. Lorene was a meticulous bookkeeper. She was an avid gardener and loved to cook. Looking through cookbooks was a favorite hobby. She loved attending sporting events for her children and grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Elmer in 2008; sister and husband, Evelyn and Raymond Woerner; sisters-in-law, Lorna (Pleas) Fox, Selma (Bill) Woodham, Flora (Herbert) Meyer, Gertrude (Clem) Pamperin; Leota Brockman, Viola (Don) Meyer; brothers-in-law, Martin Peters, Walter (Jeannette) Peters and Norbert (Betty) Peters. Survivors include her children, Bryce (Gaye) Peters, Ned (Deb) Peters both of Palmer, Jan (Craig) Lindhorst, Marysville; grandchildren, Brock (Megan) Peters, Celina, OH, Schuyler (Staci) Peters, Washington, Kellyn (John) Zamora, Salina, Tessa Peters, Lindsborg, Aaron (Chelsie) Peters, Palmer, Brett (Taylor) Peters, Linn. Adam Lindhorst, Topeka, Matt Lindhorst, Marysville; ten great grandchildren, Makenna, Braelyn, Kinsley, Jordy, Bexley, Jessa, Kamden, Maverick, Reece and baby Peters, due in September; brother-in-law, Harlan Brockman, Overland Park; and many nieces and nephews.
