Lola R. Herrs

Lola R. Herrs, 89, Linn, died Monday, February 8, 2021 at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2021 at Ward Funeral Home in Linn, KS. A funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church, Linn. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Lola was born at rural Linn on July 24, 1931 to Herman and Emma (Meyerhoff) Scheele. On July 26, 1931 she was Baptized at Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. K. Karstensen and confirmed on March 25, 1945 by Rev. W.G. Biel. She grew up west of Linn and graduated Linn Rural High School. When she was young, Lola worked at the Washington County Creamery and then worked over twenty years at the Linn Community Nursing Home. On September 30, 1956, she was united in marriage to Verlin Herrs at Zion Lutheran Church. They lived south of Linn before moving to a farm near Washington. Lola was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, then transferred to Zion Lutheran. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading and feeding birds. Preceding her is death were her parents; husband, Verlin; daughter-in-law, Sandy Herrs; and brothers, Wilbert Scheele and Raymond Scheele; brothers-in-law, Marvin Moorman and Dennis Bokelman. Survivors include sons, Neil Herrs, Linn, Bruce (Dianne) Herrs, Hanover, Gene Herrs, Washington, Mark Herrs, Marinette, WI; sister, Darlene Moormann, Manhattan; sisters-in-law, Donna Scheele, Esther Scheele, and Marcellene Bokelman; and thirteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.
