Larry D. Ouellette, 80, Washington, died November 9, 2020 at the Washington County Hospital. Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m., Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Ward Funeral Home, Washington. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, November 20, 2020 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Washington. Father Joseph Kieffer will officiate. Sheila Ouellette will be the organist. Honorary pallbearers are Dakota Helms, Konner Gepner, Camden Gepner, Barrett “Bear” Gepner, Kaden Ping and Grayson Votipka. Burial will be in Washington City Cemetery. Larry was born to Roland and Edna (Girard) Ouellette on August 14, 1940 at St. Joseph, KS. He attended Washington Schools and in September 1958, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. In 1962, he was honorably discharged and worked construction in Lincoln, NE for a few years, before returning to Washington and opening the Sportsman Bar in 1968. On March 19, 1971, Larry was united in marriage to Diane Shelley in Fairbury, NE. Larry was in the restaurant/bar industry until his retirement in 2008. He didn’t stay retired for long and went on to work parttime for Centennial Homestead and Camp Creek. Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Leona Sand, Diana Fell; brothers-in-law, Walt Hinkle, William Sand; sisters-in-law, Delores Ouellette, Peggy Ouellette; grandson, Jase Gepner; great granddaughter, Kyree Tiemeyer; and niece, Stephanie Fell. Survivors include his children, Robin (Scott) Sawin, Denise (Richard) Powell, Donna (Clint) Eubanks, Nicole Ouellette, Heather (Eric) Gepner, Fallon (Jeremy) Craig, and Quentin Ouellette; eighteen grandchildren, Brandi Cole, Jamie Tiemeyer, Taylor Miller, Kaden Ping, Adyson Ping, Josephine Eubanks, Cheyanne Helms, Dakota Helms, Kealey Helms, Konner Gepner, Macie Gepner, Camden Gepner, Barrett (Bear) Gepner, Grayson Votipka, Ashtyn Votipka, Racheal Craig, Daniel Craig and Ruth Craig and four and a half great grandchildren, Baby Miller, Collin Cole, Carter Cole, Henley Tiemeyer and Emory Tiemeyer; sisters, Loretta Hinkle, Sharon (Garry) Keeler; brothers Dean Ouellette, James Ouellette; and brother-in-law, Greg Fell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
