James "Jim" Lee Sloan

James L. Sloan, 84, Greenleaf, died Monday, November 6, 2023 at the Linn Community Nursing Home.

A graveside funeral service was at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Greenleaf City Cemetery, Greenleaf, KS.  Rev Shannon Borgmann officiated.

Jim was born August 31, 1939, at Springfield, MO the son of Wilbert and Opal (Manes) Sloan. He spent his early years in Springfield and worked alongside his brothers and father in the family logging business.  On April 23, 1965 he married Mooneen Warren at Beatrice, NE.  Moonie had three children whom Jim raised as his own and they had two children together. He spent most of his adult life living in Greenleaf, KS where they raised their family.  James was self-employed as a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mooneen in 2012; daughters, Debrah Woods Flower and Janeen "Ky" Woods Thompson; son, James E. Sloan; and grandson, Jamie Sloan; and many siblings.

Survivors include, sons John Woods and wife Brenda of Salina, KS, and Michael Sloan of Topeka, KS. Grandchildren Carrie Vinduska, Arron Flower, Brandon Woods, Kylie Woods, Misty Sloan and Chelynne Galloway, great-grandchildren, Morgan Vinduska, Macie Vinduska, Reece Vinduska, Rebecca Rule, Kylie Jensen, Jude Correia, Alexander Galloway, Jacob Galloway, Michael Galloway and Emma Galloway and many extended family members and friends who became like family. 

A memorial fund is established and will be designated later.  Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington, KS.
