Iris I. Gould

Iris Ilene Gould, 87, Washington, died Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Centennial Homestead Nursing Home, Washington.Visitation was held from noon until 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 28 at Ward Funeral Home, Washington.  The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m.A graveside funeral service was 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 29 at Merkey Gauby Brethren Cemetery, Washington.  Rev. Rex Fuller officiated.Iris was born march 14, 1931 at rural Washington to Harvey and Mabel (Marker) Gauby.   Iris grew up on farms in rural Kansas and Texas.  She graduated high school at Falfurrias, Tex.    On June 23, 1983, she was united in marriage to Marvin Gould in Washington.Iris was a member of the Church of the Brethren and attended Grace Baptist Church.  She was known as “the clean up lady of Washington.”  Iris enjoyed living a frugal life.  She enjoyed being outside, working jigsaw puzzles and cats.Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Marvin on February 19, 2014; sister, Betty and brother, Martin.Survivors include eighteen nieces and nephews.A memorial fund is established and will be designated later.  Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.
