Edythe Klataska, 89, Greenleaf, died Sunday October 31, 2021 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington. Visitation will be from 1 until 8 p.m. Friday, November 5 at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 6 at Ward Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Greenleaf. Edythe was born on March 31, 1932 in Greenfield, IN to Albert and Lydia (Webb) Roberts. On December 31, 1954, she was united in marriage to Sylvester “Pete” Klataska. He served in the U.S. Air Force and they traveled to his various assignments. They retired from the military in Texas in 1971. The family moved to Kansas in 1992. Pete preceded her in death on August 20, 1998. Edythe owned and operated several restaurants through the years. She was a jack of all trades and was a custodian at the Hanover Catholic School for several years. She was a great cook and loved having the family all together for Thanksgiving and holidays. Going out for birthday dinners was a tradition and later developed into family barbeques. Edythe loved being outdoors, roses and mowing. Mowing was her relaxing and thinking time. She loved kids and was always willing to help those in need. Family and friends were important to her. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Sylvester; son, Robin D. Klataska; daughter, Stasia Klataska; and grandson Chance Klataska. Survivors include son, Rickey (Teresa) Klataska; daughters, Trina (David Baxter) Klataska Waldo, Tawnya (Earnest Shade) Klataska; sister, Judy Roberts Johnson; ten grandchildren, Veronica Alexander, Katherine Klataska, Kristopher Klataska, Timothy Klataska, Brittany Zumwalt, Shanee’ Pangelinan, Ashley Holle, Keith Baxter, Austin Williams and Zoey Shade; and fourteen great grandchildren. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.
