Donna M. Long

Donna M. Long, 83, passed away on February 6, 2025, at Community Memorial Healthcare, Marysville, KS.

A visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

The funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 13, at Ward Funeral Home.

The pallbearers were Tom Moravek, John Moravek, Mark Moravek, Jensen Randall, David Willbrant and Ryan Bruna.

Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery.

Donna was born on May 26, 1941, in rural Washington County, Kansas, to Thomas and Emma (Houdek) Moravek. She graduated from Washington High School then worked at Brown’s Drugstore and later at the Washington County Hospital as a receptionist.

On November 17, 1963, Donna was united in marriage to Leroy C. Long at the United Methodist Church in Washington. Leroy was truly the love of her life. They were together from their first date in high school until her passing.

Donna farmed alongside her beloved husband, working ground, raising chickens and, for 25 years, they raised puppies. She also enjoyed embroidery and quilting, often quilting with her dear friends, talking and laughing together as much as sewing. Donna was an avid sport fan. She loved watching the Kansas City Royals, K-State men’s and women’s sports, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Her sense of humor, ready smile and dedication to her family and friends filled the hearts of everyone who met her. Donna leaves behind a legacy of deep love for her family and friends, kindness, laughter and tireless caring for others.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Thomas and Emma (Houdek) Moravek and her brother, Leland Moravek.

Survivors include her husband, Leroy; son Roger (Dana) Long of Great Bend, Kan. and daughter, Julie Long of Phoenix, Ariz., and two grandchildren, Calista (Jensen) Randall of Mission, Kan., and Ellis Long of Manhattan, Kan.

A memorial fund is established in her name and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
