David A. Black, 50, Greenleaf, died Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at his home. Visitation was Thursday, August 2, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Linn. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 3 at Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. David Gruoner officiated. Eunice Beier was organist and the congregation sang "A Mighty Fortress is Our God," "Jesus Loves Me" and "I'm But a Stranger Here." Burial followed at 1:15 p.m. in the Idana Cemetery at Idana, Kan.David was born October 3, 1967 at Clay Center, Kan., to Charles and Janice (Prine) Black. He attended Clay Center public schools and graduated Clay Center High School in 1987. He worked at Jack’s Food Market in Linn. In his spare time, he would collect clothing and household items and deliver them to Goodwill. He enjoyed midget races, auctioneering and collecting Hot Wheels. Anyone who met David knows he was endowed with the gift of gab. David was a member of the Barnes Lions Club and Sons of The American Legion. On July 7, 2001, he was united in marriage to Jody Dieckmann. She survives. Other survivors include his brothers, Steven (Lucy) Black and Thomas (Beatrice) Black; sister, Marsha Snowdon; eleven nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial fund is established to the Barnes Lions Club or Idana Presbyterian Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.
