Daniel Glenn Matthews 60, Washington, died Sunday, September 6, 2020 at his home. A funeral was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 10 at the Washington Christian Church, Washington. Rev. Jim Stark officiated. Eulogist was Faith Matthews. Gay Lynn Manning was organist and Amelia L’Ecuyer sang “Amazing Grace,” “Danny Boy” and “Down to the River to Pray.” The congregation sang “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” and “In the Garden.” Daniel was born on March 13, 1960 at Leesburg, VA to Fremont and Margaret (Miller) Matthews. He graduated from Granada Hills, CA in 1978 and went on to earn an associate’s degree and was a graphic designer. Daniel had a great love for all music, especially jazz. He taught himself to play the piano, organ and trombone. He was known for his attention to detail and eye for color when printing. He did work for some of the top printing houses in California. Daniel enjoyed karate and held a black belt in the sport. Daniel was known for his great sense of humor, clever wit and charm. He had an infectious laugh that would affect everyone. Daniel was exceptionally talented and loved the outdoors, particularly camping and fishing. He enjoyed motorcycling and was an excellent cook. On November 22, 1993, he married Christina “Tina” Stewart in Las Vegas, she survives. Other suvivors include his mother, Margaret “Faye” Matthews, Porter Ranch, CA; children, Chad (Harmony) Matthews, Tucson, AZ, Bonnie (Kyle) Serrien, and Faith Matthews, both of Washington; sisters, Carol Koprowski, Meridian, ID, Margaret “Peggy” Sheflo, Porter Ranch, CA, Helen “Penny” Matthews, Newbury Park, CA; brother, Mark (Nicole) Matthews, Two Rivers, WI and three grandchildren, Grant Orson Matthews, Ford Clark Matthews and Zoey Joann Serrien. Preceding him in death was his father, Fremont; and his first wife, Janet. A memorial fund is established to be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.
