Christopher D. “Buck” Montague, 36, of Wichita, KS, died Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Castaic, CA. Visitation will be Friday, November 22, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home, Washington. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 23 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Greenleaf. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Chris was born on May 29, 1983 at Belleville, KS. He was baptized June 12, 1983 and confirmed May 3rd, 1998 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Greenleaf. Chris graduated from Washington High School in 2002. Shortly after high school, he completed the apprentice program through International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #304 to become a Journeyman Lineman. In 2007, he moved to Wichita where he worked as a Journeyman Lineman for various electric utilities. He belonged to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #304. For the last year Chris worked in California as a Journeyman Lineman. Chris married and later divorced Carla Mosteller. They have a son Cash Wayne Montague. Chris loved his son, Cash Wayne Montague. They hunted together, watched football together, went to the races together, Cash was his life. Chris loved his family unconditionally. He chased his dream of being a lineman, he loved what he did and he did it well. Chris had a love of the Chiefs, Royals and the Jayhawks. In addition, he was a golfer, poker player, a snowboarder, a selfie picture taker, a hunter, and a fisherman. His contagious smile, we will all remember. Survivors include his beloved son, Cash Wayne Montague; parents Gary and Debra (Moore) Montague; siblings, Jennifer (Courtney Grater) Wise-Bisel; Randy (Amanda) Wise; Melissa (Justin) Gross; Marcy (Brady) Wyatt; nieces and nephews, Paige Wilson and Bailey Bisel; Natalie Wise; Chayse, Brigham and Reid Gross; Jaxon and Rori Wyatt; and a great niece, Rylee Maxville. Additional survivors also include aunts, uncles, cousins and Chris’s countless friends, who were not just friends they were family.
