Carl Lee Wineinger, 92, Hollenberg, died Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the Washington County Hospital. Visitation is Sunday, September 26 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home, Washington. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 27 at Zion Stateline Lutheran Church, Hollenberg. Burial is in Joy Creek Cemetery, rural Hollenberg. Carl was born in Concordia on July 31, 1929 to Carl O. and Daschie (Lignitz) Wineinger. In 1948, he graduated from Washington High School. He served with the U.S. Navy, from 1951 – 1955, and after being honorable discharged, returned home to the farm. Carl was united in marriage to June Seitz on November 11, 1955 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hollenberg. To this union six children were born, Gary, Kathy, Bill, Marla, Carol and Alan. He was a lifelong farmer and was a member of the Zion Stateline Lutheran Church near Hollenberg. Carl was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He loved portraying Abraham Lincoln for various community events, go on bus tours, play cards and going dancing. Family was very important and he enjoyed attending family reunions. Preceding him in death were his parents; siblings, Orville Wineinger, Nellie Wineinger, Winona Harper, Ross Wineinger, Geneva Blashill and Wilma Woodcock; and grandson, Seth Marshall. Survivors include his wife, June; children, Gary (Mona) Heavener, OK, Kathy (Jim) Ouellette, Washington, Bill (Betsy) Wineinger, Wakefield, Marla (Dan) Marshall, Clay Center, Carol (Tom) Wenzl, Canon City, CO and Alan (Ann) Wineinger, Gretna, NE; twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial fund is established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
