Burton William McGrath, 85, Greenleaf, died Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Good Shepherd Hospice House, Manhattan, KS. Visitation will be Monday, January 4, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Green, KS. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Sarah Gill will officiate. The pianist will be Rhonda Slingsby. Music will include "Amazing Grace” and “Go Tell It on the Mountain”. The pallbearers will be Matt Ohlde, Jaylon Rush, Gary Edgar, Ray Hugunin, Jared McGrath and Eric McGrath. Burial will be in the Greenleaf City Cemetery, Greenleaf. Burton was born on November 18, 1935 in Washington County, KS, to Russell McGrath and Heloise (Jones) McGrath. He was the oldest of nine children. Burton grew up and was a lifelong farmer near Kimeo. On September 26, 1956, he was united in marriage to Wilma Hugunin. To this union four children were born, Roger, Colette, Regina and Mark. He enjoyed attending tractor pulls, playing cards and spending time with family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lynda Edgar and Martha Reed; and brother, David McGrath. Survivors include his wife, Wilma; sons, Roger (Mary) McGrath, Waterville, and Mark McGrath, Manhattan; daughters, Colette (Johnnie) Rothlisberger, Barnes, and Regina (Randy) Lilley, Topeka; sisters, Marilyn Ohlde and Maxine Rush, both of Linn; three brothers, Elmo (Dee) McGrath, Madison, KS, Dale (Jenny) McGrath, Valley Falls, KS, and Darold McGrath, Madison, KS; sister-in-law, Marjorie Meharg, Pheonix, AZ; brother-in-law, Larry Iverson, Independence, MO; and five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
