John Taylor Nelson – 59, Washington, died Sunday, February 18, 2007 at his home. He was born November 14, 1947 at Concordia, KS to John William and Evelyn (Wheeler) Nelson. John graduated from Barnes High School in 1965 and from Kansas State University with a degree in education in 1969. He was a math teacher and coach at Frankfort, KS from 1969-1977; Clifton, KS from 1977-1979; and Washington , KS from 1979-2005. He was a member of the Washington Christian Church and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. John sponsored FCA chapters in Frankfort, Clifton, and Washington. He was united in marriage to Linda Jane Booth on January 31, 1970 in Abilene, KS. They were blessed with three children, James, Joshua, and Julie. He was preceded in death by his parents. John is survived by his wife Linda; sons, James Nelson, Fowler, KS, Joshua Nelson and wife Amy, Manhattan; daughter Julie Nelson Macha and husband Matthew, Manhattan; one grandchild; and sister, Annette Harlan and husband Bob, Hanover. A Memorial service will be held 11:00 Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the Washington Christian Church, Washington. A private inurnment will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established to: Terry C Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research at KSU; the Washington Christian Church; or Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
