ELLA MAE WELCH Fairbury, NE – Ella Mae Welch, age 94 of Fairbury, Nebraska, died Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Jefferson County Community Health Center. Ella, the daughter of Nelse and Albertena (Wilson) Peterson, was born October 17, 1912 at Haddam, Kansas. She attended school in Haddam and was united in marriage to Doss E. Welch on August 15, 1929 at Belleville, Kansas. Ella was a homemaker and helped with the family farm. She is survived by 2 sons, Verlin Welch and wife Roberta of Hubbell, Nebraska and Keith Welch and wife Alberta of Washington, Kansas; 2 daughters, Anita Wells of Gretna, Nebraska and Donna Wichman and husband Ron of Clay Center, Kansas; 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 24 great-great grandchildren. Ella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1995; one son, Donald Welch; 1 grandson, 1 great grandson and 1 son-in-law; 5 brothers and 6 sisters. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 26, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ward Funeral Home in Washington, Kansas with the Reverend Ron Brown officiating. Interment will be held at the Mahaska Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Visitation will be held, Thursday, January 25, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Monica Anderson will provide music for the service. Casket bearers are Ronald Welch, Lyle Welch, David Welch, Donald Welch, Jerry Wells, Jay Wells and Michael Fencil. Services conducted by Ward Funeral Home, Washington, Kansas.
