Leona C. Wiechman, 92, of Linn, KS, died Friday, October 8, 2010 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 11, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Greenleaf. The Rev. Timothy Lorenz officiated. Pauline Hatesohl played the organ while the congregation sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”, “Lord, Open Now My Heart to Hear”, “Christ Be My Leader” and “The Lord’s My Shepherd, Leading Me”. The pallbearers were Jeff Stigge, Mark True, Mike Stigge, Darren True, Brian Stigge, Keenan Penning and Shawn Stigge. Burial was in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery. On November 24, 1917, Leona was born to Henry and Anna (Reith) Beikman at Sheridan Township in Washington County. Leona was baptized on December 2, 1917 by Rev. Paul Stolp at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She attended the Immanuel Lutheran School, Linn. On January 12, 1938 she was united in marriage to Otto Stigge. He preceded her in death April 13, 1981. Leona married Albert Wiechman on June 23, 1984. He survives. She was a homemaker and taught Sunday school for several years. Spending time with family and grandchildren, also brought her great pleasure. Leona was preceded in death by her first husband, Otto; son, LaVern Stigge; step son-in-law, Dean Perkins; three sisters, Edna Reith, Freida Meyer and Esther Meyer; and brother, Walter Beikman. Survivors include her husband Albert of Linn; two sons, Norman Stigge (Maureen) of Morrowville, Dennis Stigge (Dorothy) of Washington; one daughter, Ruth True (Neal) of Downs; one daughter-in-law, Verlene Stigge of Washington; three step daughters, Idana Perkins of Barnes, Debbie Voelker (Gary) of Linn, Lori Dieckmann (Jack) of Linn; one step son, Jere Wiechman (Judy) of Barnes; two sisters, Mabel Shiek of Ponca City, OK, Irene Stamm of Washington; twelve grandchildren, twelve step grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, sixteen step great-grandchildren and two step great-great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established in her name and will be designated by the family at a later time. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
