Gerald "Pink" Randall, 94, of Washington, KS, died Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 14, at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor Randy Jellison-Knock officiated. Sheila Ouellette played the organ while Dr. James Smart sang "I Know Who Holds My Hand". The congregation sang "Amazing Grace". The pallbearers were Mike Chapin, Mark Chapin, Dave Wells, Ryan Randall, Chad Randall and Leigh Tinkham. The honorary pallbearers were Marvin Dewey, Junior Werner, Darrell Ryser and Charles Foster. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Gerald was born on June 18, 1916, at Agenda, to Harvey J. and Harriet (McConnell) Randall. He grew up in Haddam and later moved to Washington. Gerald joined the US Survey Team and traveled throughout the United States. Nine summers were spent in Alaska and he spent 8 months in Nicaragua. In 1974 he built a home and moved to Washington from Kansas City. He was an avid golfer, liked fly fishing, hunting, cribbage and playing cards. He wintered in Tucson. Lions Club and Elks are organizations he was a member of. Preceding him in death were his wives, Melba Bakken Randall, November 10, 1978, Evelyn Gordon Randall, January 28, 2005 and Ernestine Steninger Randall in 2009; brothers, Donald and Marvin; and sisters, Gladys Randall, in infancy, and Clara Chapin. Survivors include two sons, Robert Randall and wife Viola, Godfrey, IL, Chris Randall and wife Jane, Topeka, KS; one daughter, Sandra Tinkham, Wichita; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
