Roger “Butch” C. Parrack, 68, of Haddam, died Thursday, August 19, 2010 at the Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kansas. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 23 at the Morrowville Christian Church. Rev. Andrew Lucas officiated. Della Goldsberry played the piano while Ed and John Durst sing “Because He Lives” and “Mansion Over the Hilltop.” The congregation sang "I'll Fly Away." The pallbearers were Gary Wiese, Les Novak, Steve Goldsberry, Darel Bertram, Ron Nutz, Rex Zenger and Leland Cook. The honorary pallbearers were Chad Parrack, Brad Parrack, Sam Strnad, Jon Strnad, Kent Morey, Frank Morey and Don Morey. Burial was in the Hickory Grove (Blocker) Cemetery. Roger was born June 23, 1942 at Belleville, Kansas, son of Vaughn and Avalene (Slavik) Parrack. He graduated from Haddam High School in 1960. On August 20, 1960 he was united in marriage to Retha Morey in Haddam. To this union two children were born. Roger farmed near Haddam with his father until 1999. He was a road grader operator for Washington County for 20 years until retiring and then ran a road grader for Union Township. In his spare time he loved to garden, bird hunter, avid coon hunter and raised coon dogs. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with the grandchildren. Roger was a hard worker and liked keeping busy. He was a member of the Morrowville Christian Church, past member of the Masonic Lodge and helped to start the Haddam Golf Club. His father, Vaughn Parrack preceded him in death on July 30, 1990. Survivors include his wife, Retha; mother, Avalene Parrack of Washington; daughter, Cindy Parrack-Volanti of Riley; son, Curt Parrack and wife Marni of Fairbury, Nebraska; brother, Jimmy Parrack and wife Jolene of Washington; aunt, Wilma McLeod of Denver, Colorado; his cousin (who was like a brother), Ron McLeod of Houston, TX; and five grandchildren, Cassie Volanti, Anthony Volanti, Kellen Parrack, Addison Parrack and Jonah Parrack.
