Orval Buehler, 95, of Morrowville, KS, died May 21, 2010, at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury, NE. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 24, at Ward Funeral Home. The Rev. Andrew Lucas officiated. Sheila Ouellette played the organ while Dr. Jim Smart sang "In The Garden" and ""Under His Wings." The pallbearers were Kris Buehler, Clint Moon, Derek Moore, Fred Leonard, Quentin Buehler and Brandon Buehler. Burial was in the Morrowville Cemetery. Orval was born September 27, 1914, at Wilson, KS, son of Theodore and Frances Buehler. In 1939 he moved to Washington County. On March 30, 1940, he married Myrtle Iva Grise at the Washington County Courthouse. Together they farmed and ran cattle. Orval was an avid horseman. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering on things in his spare time. After selling the farm in the fall of 1969, they moved into Morrowville, KS, and then began working for Ed Burt and later Hall Brothers Construction. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle; three sisters, Veda, Neva and Eulalia; two brothers, Norris and Dean; and two grandchildren. Survivors include one sister, Joyce Podlena of Wilson, KS; three brothers, Ted Buehler of Russell, KS, Glen Buehler, and Dale Buehler of Wilson, KS; four children, Shirley Frances McGirr and husband Daryl of Grand Junction, CO, Wayne Norris Buehler and wife Glynda of Fairbury, Linda Kay Moore of Fairbury, Robert Leon Buehler and wife Pam of Haddam, KS; seventeen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
