Lucille Mundwiler

Lucille Mundwiler, 90, died at the Linn Community Nursing Home, Linn. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 3 at the United Methodist Church, Washington. Pastor Randy Jellison-Knock officiated. Dr. James Smart sang "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art" with Sheila Ouellette accompaning him. The congregation sang "In The Garden." Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Pallbearers were, Eldon Henderson, Lloyd Holbrook, Hal Allred, Mike Prellwitz, Robert Reynolds and Donald Terpening. Eva Lucille was born July 8, 1919 in Washington County to Glenn and Naomi (Henderson) Reynolds. She graduated from Washington High School. On August 8, 1938, she was married Jerold Mundwiler. The lived in Washington until Jerold entered the Navy. During WWII, she lived in Baltimore, MD and Oakland, CA and worked as a secretary. After her husband was discharged, they lived in Pratt, Salina, Larned and moved to Linn in 2005. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, 50 year member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. DAR, EHU in Washington to name a few of the many clubs and organizations she belonged to. She worked as a secretary for the Larned Public Schools for many years. She loved to knit, crochet, and quilt and shared her work with many. Lucille was an avid traveler, traveled to Germany, went on several cruises, and camped with her husband. She learned to water ski with her children and taught them all to fish. Lucille watched all sports, basketball, football, and especially the KSU Wildcats and Royals. In her spare time she would garden and share with her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerold, in June 1988; three brothers, Elwood Reynolds, Willis Edgar Reynolds and LeRoy Reynolds; and sister, LauraLee Nutsch. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Peters and husband Bruce, Papillion, NE; son, Miley Mundwiler and wife Nancy, Corpus Christi, TX; sisters, Irene Terpening, Linn, June Sokolik and husband Mick, Sun City, AZ, Margaruitte Cornell and husband Bob, Evergreen, CO; four grandchildren, Marie Mundwiler and Jim Schrader, Wichita, Samantha Mundwiler, Wichita, Gregory Peters and wife Bridget, Chicago, IL, Christopher Peters of Redmond, WA; and 2 great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
