Lawrence Newcomb

Washington-G. Lawrence Newcomb, 89, died Wednesday, July 19, 2006 in Washington. He was born at Morrowville on January 26, 1917 to Nathan and Elsie (Simpson) Newcomb. Lawrence graduated from Morrowville High School in May of 1935. He was a farmer and worked with the Washington County Rural Water District. Lawrence was a member of the United Methodist Church and WCADC in Washington. On April 6, 1939 he was united in marriage to Phyllis M. Stanton. She preceded him in death April 10, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roger; a daughter, Karen Louderback; and a sister Eleanor Dick. He is survived by a son, George of Texas; sister Maxine Hohlweg, Indianapolis, IN; 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at the United Methodist Church, Washington, Monday July 24, 2006 at 10:30 am. Burial will be in the Washington City Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Ward Funeral Home in Washington, Sunday, July 23 from 3 to 5 pm. A memorial has been established to be designated at a later time.
