Leroy H. Schaefer

Leroy Harvey Schaefer, 78, Linn, died Sunday, July 2, 2006 at the Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center. He was born in Carleton, NE on November 21, 1927 to Emil and Pauline (Walz) Schaefer. He was baptized at Friedensaw Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE on November 24, 1927 and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church on April 5, 1942. Leroy was a dairy farmer, worked at USD 223 for 23 years as a food accountant and worked for the City of Linn Water Department 20+ years. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Mens Club, former president of AAL, former secretary of Zion Lutheran, served on the Immanuel Lutheran School Board and was given the Kansas Assoc. of Homes and Services for the Aging Caregiver of the Year Award in 1994. Leroy married Lila Struber on May 2, 1948 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Linn. They were blessed with four sons, Neil, Keith, Roger and Gary. He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lila; sons, Neil and wife Catherine, McKinney, TX, Keith and wife Susan, Linn, Roger and wife Alice, Jansen, NE and Gary of Leonardville; a sister, Eva Helms and husband Vernon, Linn; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held, Thursday, July 6, 2006 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Linn at 10:30 am. Pastor Gene Holtorf will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Casket bearers are Shawn Schaefer, Brant Schaefer, Aaron Proctor, Michael Colon’, Braden Schaefer , Jered Schaefer, Adrian Fick and Lavern Dittmer.
