Louise E. Potts, 85, of Washington, KS, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at the Homestead Nursing Home in Washington. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 18, at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Rev. Randy Jellison-Knock officiated. Sheila Ouellette accompanied Leland Cook while he sang "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ron Dodd, David Potts, Mark Boldt, Scott Zenger, Randy Latta and Dan Zabokrtsky. Honorary pallbearers were Jeff Petrie, Richard Petrie, Simon Fulton, Wylan Petrie and Jeff Ludwig Louise was born June 17, 1924, at Salina, KS, the daughter of Horace C. and Ruth (Barber) Petrie. She graduated from Salina High School. On December 24, 1942, she married Lester Potts at Salina. While Lester served in the U.S. Army, she lived with her parents in Abilene. When Lester was discharged from the Army they made Abilene their home. In September 1956 they moved to Washington and purchased Fletcher Auto Parts and renamed it Potts Auto Parts and Supply. They operated it until retiring in 2000. Louise was a member of the VFW Auxillary and United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester on March 31, 2009; three brothers, James Petrie, Wayne "H.W." Petrie and wife Joyce, and Lawrance Petrie. Survivors include one son, Loren Potts and wife Alice of Washington; one daughter, Linda Grover and husband Jim of Morrowville; two sister-in-laws, Patricia Petrie of Omaha, NE, and Margarette Maddocks of Aurora, MO; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
