Zita Pfeiffer, 94, Linn, died June 19, 2006 at the Linn Community Nursing Home. She was Born in Washington, KS on August 13, 1911 the daughter of William Wallace and Lula Mae (Mundis) Carroll. Zita attended grade school and high school in Washington except for a few years when she and her family lived in Manhattan. In 1930 she started as an apprentice with Mrs. Duston then later going on to cosmetology school. In 1932 Zita opened her own salon in Linn, working for a total of 69 years in the beauty business. On September 6, 1932 Zita was married to Alvin Pfeiffer, who owned and operated a barber shop and recreation business until he left for the service. After returning, he became the post master of Linn. Zita and Alvin were blessed with a son, Mark. Zita was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Linn, the Washington County Historical Society; she belonged to AARP and NARFE. She loved art and was an avid reader. She kept abreast of the times, and also loved the beauty of nature and nature’s creatures. On December 2, 1991, the booster club recognized her as being in business 60 years. Zita was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Alvin on August 14, 1990. She is survived by her son, Mark and his wife Linda of Salina; a sister in law, Evelyn Pfeiffer, Washington; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Service for Zita will be held at 10:00 am at the United Methodist Church, Linn. Pastor Phil Morris will officiate. Burial will be in the Linn City Cemetery. Casket bearers are Les Spence, Larry Wurtz, Jack Dieckmann, Michael Flenthrope, Christopher, Flenthrope, and Gary D. Flenthrope.
