Thad Tate, 57, of Linn, KS, died Sunday, November 8, 2009 at his home. A funeral service was held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 12 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Washington. Father David Metz officiated. Gina Miller accompanied Jacqueline Smith while she sang “On Eagles Wings”, “The Parable”, “You Are Mine” and “It’s A Different World.” Burial was in the Linn City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lee Singular, Mryl Merritt, Gary Wiese, Ted Ryser, Ivan Holle, and Dean Koch. Honorary bearers were Kyle Roeser, Kyle Pfizenmaier, Austin Buckner, Mikel Spainhower, Rett Girton, Kent Morris, Jacoby Roeser, Stanley Tuschinski and Eisaac Girton. Thad was born December 25, 1951 at Concordia, the son of Mitchell and Alma (Haist) Tate. On November 24, 1982, he married Mary (Holle) Morris at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Greenleaf. He worked as a welder for Hutchison Maywrath and trailer factories in the area. He also worked as a farmhand and ran a motor grader and drove a truck for the Washington County Public Works. He enjoyed raising a big garden and selling his produce at the Farmers markets in Washington and Clyde. Thad was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Mary of Linn; four daughters, Cathy Girton and husband Brad of Clay Center, Carrie Roeser and husband Jeff of Riley, Cindy Tuschinski and husband Joe of Newark, DE, and Carla Crutcher and husband Travis of Clay Center; two step sons, Levi Morris and wife Wendy, and Max Morris, both of Emporia; seven sisters, Margaret Nobert of Clyde, Polly Silinskas of Pittsburgh, PA, Madeline Lambert and husband Harold of Clyde, Loretta Koch and husband Dean of Clyde, Jane Couture and husband Carroll of Belleville, Johnita Crawford and husband Mikel of Clyde, Michelle Brooks and husband Del of Manhattan; two brothers, Basil Tate and wife Connie of Clyde, and Donnie Tate of Concordia; and seventeen grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
