Wilma B. Woodcock, 96, died January 11, 2018 at the Linn Community Nursing Home. A funeral service was 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Ward Funeral Home, Washington. Rev. Jim Stark officiated. Gay Lynn Manning was organist and Dr. Jim Smart sang “In the Garden.” Honorary pallbearers were Tim Woodcock, Tony Woodcock, Trent Woodcock, Ethan Woodcock, Schuyler Peters and Bill Wineinger. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Wilma was born October 26, 1921 at Haddam, Kan., to Carl O and Daschie (Lignitz) Wineinger. On May 25, 1937, she married Walter Woodcock at Clay Center, Kan. They farmed south of Washington. Wilma worked at the Washington County Creamery and had an egg route. She raised chickens, milked cows, enjoyed working outdoors in her garden and quilting. Wilma loved animals of all kinds. She was a member of the Linn United Methodist Church and Ash Creek Ladies Club. Wilma was a 4-H Leader for the Linn Livewires. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter, in 1982; infant daughter, Luiza; siblings, Winona Harper, Geneva Blashill, Ross Wineinger, Orville Wineinger and Nellie Wineinger; a grandson and two great grandchildren. Survivors include her sons, Donald (Lynda) Woodcock, Washington, and Robert (Mary) Woodcock, Walton, KY; brother, Carl L. (June) Wineinger, Hollenberg; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to the Linn Community Nursing Home or K.S.D.S. in Washington. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
