Jean P Brabec

Jean P. Brabec, 57, died Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Washington County Hospital, Washington. A graveside funeral service was at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 25 at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Greenleaf. Father Joseph Kieffer officiated. Dan Brabec accompanied himself on the guitar and sang "In the Garden." Jean was born August 10, 1960 at Concordia to Patrick and Norma (Hiltgen) McGrath. She attended grade school in Greenleaf, and graduated from Washington High School. Jean was a lifelong resident of Greenleaf. On May 13, 1983, she married Tom Brabec at Las Vegas, NV. She and Tom worked together in their family business. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Jean loved cats and their dog, Tucker. For several years, Jean planted flowers and took care of the Greenleaf Garden. She enjoyed growing flowers. Preceding her in death were her parents; and Missy, her dog. Survivors include her husband, Tom; brothers, John (Kay) McGrath, Greenleaf; Dwight (Priscilla) McGrath, Missouri Valley, IA; her dog, Tucker; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial is established to CCARE Animal Rescue and Education, Clay Center, KS and contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington, Kansas.
