Esther M. Skipton

Esther Marie Skipton, 87, of Morrowville, met her Lord and other loved ones on October 11, 2009, at the Homestead Nursing Home in Washington, KS. A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 24, at the Morrowville Christian Church. Rev. Anthony Lucas officiated. Burial was in the Morrowville Cemetery. Esther was born May 26, 1922, on a farm south of Morrowville, the daughter of William and Grace Back. She worked for the State of Kansas at the Port of Entry for 30 years. On May 14, 1939, she married Sherman Skipton in Haddam. He preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ann Johnson; and her great- grandson, Eli Skipton. Survivors include two sons, Terry Skipton and wife Kathe of Columbus, NE, and Perry Skipton and wife Teresa of Selah, WA; daughter, Sheryl Senters and husband Denny of Yakima, WA; one brother, Pete Back of Washington, KS; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
