Karon E. L’Ecuyer, 74, of Washington, KS, died Friday, October 21, 2016 at her home. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m, Monday, October 24 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Washington. Sister Marilyn Wall officiated. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 25 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Father Joseph Kieffer officiated. Music included “How Great Thou Art”, “Here I Am Lord”, “On Eagles Wings”, and “The Summons”. The pallbearers were Aaron L’Ecuyer, David L’Ecuyer, Jordan L’Ecuyer, Erik L’Ecuyer, T.C. L’Ecuyer, and Ted Bruna. Burial was in St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, north of Morrowville. Karon was born February 24, 1942 at Washington, KS, daughter of Neil “Curt” and Gunnel (Sjoholm) Wieland. In 1960, she graduated from Morrowville High School. On February 8, 1964, she married Richard L’Ecuyer at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, sewing, bowling, watching her grandchildren and always saw potential in people and things. Survivors include her husband, Richard; ten children, Stephanie (Burton) Thompson, Holdrege, NE, David L’Ecuyer, Washington, Aaron (Eva) L’Ecuyer, Cordova, TN, Melanie (Marc) Bryant, Washington, Nichole (Steve) Howe, Neosho, MO, Annika L’Ecuyer (Sam Knights), Alexandria, VA, Eric (Amanda Hawkins) L’Ecuyer, Waterville, Jordan (Sara Weber) L’Ecuyer, Washington, Norma Jean (Eddie) Miller, Newton, KS, and honorary daughter, Linda (Kenton) Brown, Clyde, KS; siblings, Joann (Cliff) Elder, Richard (Joann) Wieland, David (Marge) Wieland, Christa Prior, Martia Rockhold, Ina (James) Maize, Erik Wieland, and Martin Wieland; two sisters-in-law, Ronda Wieland and Joynita Strunk; 27 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant child, Erika; and two siblings, John Wieland and Donald Wieland. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.
