Virginia M. Baker

HADDAM – Virginia Mary Baker, 88, of Haddam, Kansas, passed away Monday, August 22, 2016. Visitation was Wednesday, August 24 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Ward Funeral Home, Washington. A rosary service was at 7 p.m., Wednesday, at the St. Augustine Catholic Church, Washington. A funeral service was held 10 a.m., Thursday, August 25, 2016 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kieffer officiating. Carol Osborne was organist and Ryan, Sam and Jacob Reed sang “On Eagles Wings” and “Oh Lord, I Am Not Worthy.” Tish Osborne sang “Here I Am Lord,” “Song of Farewell” and “You Are Mine.” Pallbearers were Timothy Baker, Joseph Baker, Todd Baker, David Baker, Philip Baker and Andy Baker. Burial was in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Morrowville. She was born July 24, 1928, in Andale, to Thomas and Catherine (Bunk) Polan. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. On November 4, 1947, Virginia was united in marriage to Joseph Baker at Schulte, KS. They moved to the Haddam area in 1975. Virginia did quilting and knitting. She enjoyed playing cards, raising flowers and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, Joseph of 68 fruitful fulfilling years; children, Joan Turley (Clifford), Timothy Baker (Lana), Joseph Dean Baker (Dorothy), Louella Gerstner (Mike), Todd Baker (Annette), Susan Scoggins (George), David Baker (Kathy), Philip Baker (Jean), Andy Baker, Belinda Roberts (John), and Gwenna Reich (Kevin); thirty-five wonderful grandchildren, forty-eight great grandchildren, and a few in the oven. Preceded in death by daughter, Beth Reed; and grandsons Ricke Baker and Joseph George Baker. Memorials are suggested to: The St. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
