Mabel C. Gordon

Mabel C. Gordon, 93, Morrowville, died Friday, August 12, 2016 at Washington, KS. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 20 at the Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Rev. Ron Brown officiated. “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace” were played. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers were Charles Hill, Dale Hill, Lonnie Leidig, Murray Dague, Charlie Huber, Larry Hauschel and Dennis Sedlacek. Burial was in the Morrowville Cemetery. Mabel was born on June 3, 1923 at rural Morrowville, to George and Anna (Lemon) Walkemeyer. She is a graduate of Morrowville High School. Mabel worked for the sewing factories in Fairbury, NE, and cleaned houses and offices. She loved animals, especially dogs and cats, and raised Emus. Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband, Carl Erickson; second husband, Austin Gordon; and daughter, Maxola Erickson. Survivors include her son, Gerald Erickson, Alaska; sister, Ina Hill-Carriker, Fairbury, NE; two nephews, seven great nieces and nephews and five great-great nieces and nephews. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.
