Illa F. Simnitt Fielder, 92, Washington, died Monday, June 20, 2016 at Clay Center, KS A funeral service was held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25 at the Ward Funeral Home, Washington. Pastor Jim Stark officiated. Recordings of “Amazing Grace” and “Softly and Tenderly” were played. Pallbearers were Steve Sikora, Brent Simnitt, Drake Trampe, David Trampe, Doug Dorman and Christopher Sikora. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Dorman, Jeff Koss, Richard Truelove, Terry Wilkinson and Randy Wilkinson. Burial was in the Morrowville Cemetery. Illa was born at Haddam, KS to James R. and Elsie E. (Cornwell) Dorman, on August 10, 1923. She worked as a sales clerk for several businesses in Washington for many years. On October 11, 1940, she married Otis Simnitt at Clifton. To this union were born four children. They were married over fifty years before Otis preceded her in death on November 28, 1990. She married Robert Fielder August 21, 1992 in Washington. Bob preceded her in death on August 5, 2003. Illa loved to quilt, sew, bake and cook; she made wonderful pies! She enjoyed visiting with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Illa deeply loved her family. Survivors include sons, Kenny (Twila) Simnitt, Washington, Danny (Ava) Simnitt, Clyde; daughters, Peggy (Larry) Wilkinson, Clay Center and Judith Koss, Washington; brothers, Jim (Janet) Dorman, Canadian, TX, Keith Dorman, Concordia, KS, Glen Dorman, Ft. Dodge, IA, Loren (Karen) Dorman, Florida, Jack (Ardy) Dorman, Harcourt, IA, Ronnie (Janet) Dorman, Concordia; and sisters, Marilyn (Jack) Dunn, Phillipsburg, Betty (Mike) Herron, Ft. Dodge, IA; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A memorial fund is established to the Washington Christian Church or Meadowlark Hospice.
