Yvonne F. Smith 86, Washington, died Saturday, April 23, 2016 at her home. Visitation was from noon until 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, at the Ward Funeral Home, Washington. The family received friends from 5 to 6 p.m. A rosary service was at 6 p.m., Wednesday at Ward Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was 10 a.m., Thursday, April 28 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Washington. Father David Metz officiated. Sheila Ouellette was organist and the congregation sang “Amazing Grace,” “On Eagles Wings,” “Here I Am Lord” and “How Great Thou Art.” Pallbearers were Joe Brown, Logan Brown, Karlie Brown, Tristina Smith, Garth Wood, Dustin Bonar and Brittney Wood. Burial was in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Morrowville. Yvonne was born on March 19, 1930 to Joseph and Alma (Messier) Pilon in Fairfield, Vermont. On March 15, 1958, she was united in marriage to Clarence Smith at St. Albins, VT. Yvonne was an avid seamstress and ran an upholstery shop for many years. After her shop, she worked at Swingsters until retirement. She also loved to help quilt with the church group. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Clarence on September 22, 2005; son, Lester on August 19, 2002; brothers, Arthur Francis Pilon, Edward Pilon, Emile Pilon, Henry Pilon and Arthur Pilon; and sister, Alma Juliar. Survivors include daughters, Mary Smith, address unknown, Linda (Kenton) Brown, Clyde, Cindy Wood, Hugoton, Martha Smith, Washington; sister, Cecile (Jimmy) Minckler, Swanton, VT, Josephine Rocheleau, Spring, TX; brother, Joseph Paul (Winifred) Pilon, St. Albins, VT; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial fund is established and the family will designate later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.
