Mildred A. Peters, 97, of Linn, KS, died Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Linn Community Nursing Home. Visitation was Tuesday, April 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Linn. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 13 at Zion Lutheran Church in Linn. Pastor David Gruoner officiated. Eunice Beier was organist and the congregation sang “Now Rest Beneath Life’s Shadows,” “Christ the Lord Has Risen Today,” and “For All the Saints.” Pallbearers were Jared Hatesohl, Grant Peters, Kevin Peters, Clayton Peters, Kyle Peters, John Peters, Shelby Hatesohl, Chantz Peters and Andrew Garnhart. Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Mildred was born December 22, 1918 near Palmer, KS, to Dietrich and Sophie (Bott) Hiesterman. She married Emil Peters on May 29, 1949 at her parents’ home near Linn. Mildred work as a CNA at the Washington County Hospital for 15 years. She and her husband, started, owned and operated Linn Post and Pipe, Inc. Mildred worked in sales and attended trade shows to promote their product. Crocheting, needlework and piecework were some of her hobbies. She raised a garden and especially loved family dinners and playing pinochle. Mildred watched and attended sporting events and supported all Kansas teams. She enjoyed spending time with her family and following her grandchildren’s activities. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emil; brothers, Arnold Hiesterman, Erwin Hiesterman, and infant brother, Oscar Hiesterman; sister, Ida Uffman; and daughter-in-law, Jeanette Peters. Survivors include her children, Bruce (Carol) Peters, Fort Worth, TX, Michael Peters, Linn, Mark (Bonita) Peters, Lincoln, IL, and Debra (Lonnie) Hatesohl, Greenleaf, KS; 9 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren, and 5 step great-great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to the Linn Lutheran School Endowment Fund or the Zion Parsonage. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.
