Rex S. Hacker, 58, of Washington, KS, died Monday, March 16, 2009 at the Washington County Hospital. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 19, at the United Methodist Church in Hebron, NE. The Rev. Mark Baldwin officiated. Burial was in the Deshler City Cemetery, Deshler, NE. Rex was born May 14, 1950 at Omaha, NE. He was the son of Limon Doyle and Mollie S. (Schleining) Hacker. He grew up in Scottsbluff, NE and graduated from high school in 1968. He attended Chadron State and graduated from San Francisco Mortuary School in 1971. Rex interned in McCook, NE and then moved to Albion, NE. In 1974, he moved to Hebron, NE and owned funeral homes in Hebron, Deshler and Bruning, NE. In 2001 he moved to Washington, KS and worked for Ward Funeral Home. Rex was an active member of the Lions Club and was past District Governor in Nebraska. He enjoyed Husker Football, helping with the community theatre in Hebron, attending his children’s school and sport events and spending time with his children and grandchildren. On December 22, 1972 he was united in marriage to JoLynn Blake. They later divorced. Survivors include one son, Bradley Hacker and wife Tami of North Platte, NE; two daughters, Erin Feather and husband Greg of Gothenburg, NE, and Tiffany Johnson and husband Mark of Grand Island, NE; three grandsons and one granddaughter.
