Muriel Henry, 94, of Greenleaf, KS, died, Friday, October 2, 2015 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Monday, October 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Greenleaf. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 6, at the Washington Christian Church. Rev. Jim Stark officiated. Gay Lynn Manning was organist and the soloist was Melissa Lee. She sang "How Great Thou Art," "In the Garden" and "Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers were Gray Henry, Matthew Henry, Mark Henry, Gerald Lee, Gary Stone and John Paul Stephenson. Burial was in the Greenleaf City Cemetery. Muriel was born to Paul and Elsie (King) Flear on September 10, 1921 at Waterville. She graduated from Greenleaf High School in 1940. Muriel took normal training and taught for five years at a rural school. On June 17, 1946, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Henry at the Manhattan Bible College in Manhattan. They lived in the Greenleaf area where they farmed. Muriel was a member of Washington Christian Church, the Women’s Coteri and the Odd Fellows and Rebecca’s Organization. She was a 4-H Leader and taught sewing. Reading, sewing, quilting, playing pinochle and gardening, were some of her favorite pastimes. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Kenneth in 2004; and brother-in-law, Blaine Stephenson. Survivors include her three children, Laureen (James) Koehler, LaVista, NE, David (Mary) Henry, Weeping Water, NE, and Darryl (Donna) Henry, Colby, KS; sister, Phyllis Stephenson, Reading, CA; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A memorial fund is established and the family will designate later.
