Viola Mae Kearn, 89, Washington, died Sunday, August 2, 2015, at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service was 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 5, at the Morrowville Christian Church, Morrowville, KS. Pastor Ron Brown officiated. Sheila Ouellette was organist and Alicia Hartner sang "Lead Me to the Cross." The congregation sang "In the Garden" and "I, the Lord of Sea and Sky." Visitation was from noon until 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 4 at the Ward Funeral Home, Washington. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Pallbearers were Jeremy Nabors, Clayton Day, Don Kearn, Terry Kearn, Uriah Cheatham and Dale Kearn Jr. Burial was in Morrowville Cemetery. Viola was born on April 8, 1926 at Alexandria, NE to Charles Faulkner and Laura Menke. She grew up in the Haddam and Morrowville areas and taught school for a period of time. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Kearn on April 24, 1945 and to this union seven children were born. Viola earned her nursing degree at the age of sixty-five and worked for local nursing homes. She did crocheting, embroidery, and loved to birdwatch. Spending time with her family and grandchildren were especially important to her. Viola was a member of the Morrowville Christian Church, Morrowville. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Lloyd; daughter, Verna Mae Kearn; and son, Daniel Kearn. Survivors include daughters, Joanne (Paul) Dague, Washington, Wilma Conant (Russell Craft), Marysville, Marilyn (Rocky) Lamb, Morrowville; sons, Dale Kearn, Big Cabin, OK, Dean (Jean) Kearn, Washington; step-son, Duane Kearn, Idaho; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial fund is established to the Morrowville Christian Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
