Edna E. Rice, 73, of Washington, KS, died Friday, July 24, 2015 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington. A funeral service was at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 28 at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Sr. Marilyn Wall officiated. Edna was born August 26, 1941 at Concordia, KS, to Ed and Myrtle (Hogan) Rice. She attended grade school in Washington and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Phoenix, AZ. Edna went to work in the banking industry and traveled to several locations for her job. She loved her family, cherished her grandsons, and was “Aunt Donut” to her many nieces and nephews. Edna was a master cook, who loved to entertain. Aunt Donut was famous for her Christmas Cookie Day! Her nieces and nephews looked forward to it every year. Survivors include her sons, Todd Preimsberg and wife, Lori, Seattle, WA, and Scott Preimsberg and wife Cindy, Reno, NV; sisters, Darlene Gauby, Washington, and Peggy Smith, Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-law, Lola Rice, Phoenix, AZ; two grandsons, Hogan and Jake; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Waterman; and brother, Gene Rice. A memorial fund has been established to Hearts and Things.
