Elsie May Kranzler, 90, of Salina, died Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Kay Pogue Hospice Center in Salina. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 24, at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Ron Kramer officiated. The musicians, Mike Mattson and Theresa Weaver, played guitars and sang many beautiful songs. The pallbearers were Duane Durst, Dale Miller, Gerald Durst and Clyde Miller. Burial was in the Morrowville Cemetery. Elsie was born in rural Morrowville, KS, on May 30, 1918 to Phillip and Margaret Yager. She was the youngest of seven Yager children. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred, Edith, and Viola; brother, Herman; and her beloved husband Milton in 2005. She is survived by two sisters, Ruby and Leta; one son, Dean Kranzler and wife Loralee; grandson, Kody Kramer; along with many nephews, nieces, great friends and neighbors. She worked as a beautician in Fairbury, Nebraska during the early 1950’s and then moved to Salina and remained a homemaker. She loved gardening, walking in the park, sewing, preparing fantastic meals, and visiting friends, neighbors and relatives. She was a mom to all the kids in the neighborhood. She also enjoyed the Salina Symphony and the Salina Municipal Band concerts with her late husband Milton. She was a long time member of the University Methodist Church in Salina. A memorial fund has been established to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
