Virginia I. Talkington, 80, of Linn, KS, died Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington, KS. A funeral service was held at 3 p.m., Friday, May 29 at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor Randy Jellison-Knock officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were Sean Talkington, Timothy Talkington, Jeffery Talkington, Jr., Samantha Cook, Casper Talkington and Braden Foster. Burial was private. Virginia was born October 6, 1934 at Kansas City, KS to Otto and Irene Smith. Her parents died at an early age and she was raised by an adoptive family in Chapman, KS. Virginia graduated from Chapman High School and attended Wichita State University. On July 1, 1954, she was united in marriage to Earl Lee Talkington. They later divorced. Virginia lived at Cottonwood Falls and was a member of the Presbyterian Church and served as the church secretary. Virginia liked reading, spending time with her family and while in Cottonwood Falls, attended several ladies clubs. Virginia moved to Morrowville, to be close to family, and spent five years before moving to the Linn Community Nursing Home. Survivors include her children, Patrick (Lisa) Talkington, Lawrence, KS, Kenneth (Teresa) Talkington, Osage City, KS, Jeffrey (Bev) Talkington, Fremont, NE, Steve (Jennifer) Talkington, Morrowville, KS, William (Rhonda) Talkington, Fairbury, NE, and Kristina (Ryland) Foster, Overland Park, KS; twenty-nine grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Katherine Talkington; and great grandson, Xavier Martinez. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.
