Margaret Jean Carpenter, 64, died Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Washington County Hospital, Washington, KS. Service will be held at noon, Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Mayberry’s in Washington. Burial will be at 11 a.m., June 13, 2015 at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, KS. Margaret was born to George and Betty Jean (Haney) McCaughtry at McPherson, KS. She graduated McPherson High School in 1968. She attended and graduated from cosmetology school in Excelsior Springs, MO. Margaret was united in marriage to Charles Arthur Carpenter in Dickinson County, KS on March 29, 1971. She worked for Tony’s Pizza, for over twenty years, in Salina. After retiring from Tony’s, she drove a truck with her husband. She later work for Russell Stovers Candies in Abilene. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Charles; brothers, George and Richard McCaughtry; and step-son Scott Carpenter. Survivors include her daughter, Caroline Scoville and husband Antone, Washington; siblings, Dennis McCaughtry, Arvada, CO, Pat (Tommy) McAnally, Newalla, OK, Barbara (Terry) Herl, Wichita, David (Charlotte) McCaughtry, Salina; grandsons, Eric (Kelsey) Yungeberg, Jordan Yungeberg, Paris Yungeberg, granddaughters, Maria Carpenter, Shyann Scoville; and nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is established and will be designated later by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.
