Marie Adele Greenwood

Marie Greenwood, 99, of Washington, KS, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2008, at the Homestead Nursing Home in Washington. A funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at the Presbyterian Church in Washington. Rev. Marilyn Wullschleger officiated. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Marie was born May 23, 1909 at Marysville, KS, the daughter of Herbert and Emma (Spitsnogle) Leck. On March 31, 1931 she married Oak Keesecker. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1963. On June 14, 1969 she married Hugh Greenwood. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Paul Leck; and one great-grandson, Matthew Oak Walter. Survivors include one son, Dale Keesecker and wife Lila of Washington; one daughter, Mary Ann Keesecker and Jack Wohlbrandt of Greenleaf; six granddaughters, Michele Walter, Melissa Fernandes, Melanie Stewart, Lisa Shaw, Lesli Lenners and Jodi Mensch; and nine great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
